We had a dream to build a second home for a retreat from the busy city life with our three boys thinking it would be in the Winthrop area. Meeting Don and Cristy and sharing our plans to build in the Winthrop area, they put us in touch with a local real estate agent that helped us find some land. The building site needed much work to create the building site and they brought a ladder to the site so the exact valley view could be confirmed from the finished floor level. We had a budget and shared how we wanted our floor space to capture the 360 view. A design was created to utilize a lower level with interior stairs to the main living area. It was great but changed our minds to another style. A seconded design was created to capture the exact look we were looking for and 3-D interior modeling was the key where we could view the rooms seeing the placement and size of braces, beams and trusses. So bottom line, we got the look we wanted by listening to other options making our ideas shine. It is now 2015 and we live here full time and could not be happier with a very low utility bill, enjoying the beauty of the timbers showcasing our mountains, thrilled with multi-use areas and the flow of the floor plan. So thankful that we met them at a Home Show in 2006 and returning in 2007 with a design fee to start the planning process. It was wonderful experience of working with Don and Cristy and come highly recommended as a working couple!

I have been asked to write a letter of recommendation and gladly accepted as companies with honest and integrity is a wonderful find and this is one company that has both. You can trust Don with doing what he says he will do. I came to the company with a set of plans and knew I wanted a timber frame entry and timbers in the great room/kitchen/dining area plus our master bedroom. Also, wanted some nice exterior looks and front entry. My plans had provisions for timber frame but not detailed. Don took my plans and made a 3-D model showing some nice curved trusses. I wanted something different than the common truss look. After seeing this model, I wanted some more exterior timbers. He also worked well with my architect giving him shop drawings. The cost was reasonable for all his services and well-coordinated with my contractor with delivery.

We attended the Seattle Home Show in the fall where we interview all the timber frame companies and after two days, my wife and I decided to work with Cougar Creek Timber Frame as they communicated and taught us so much. We wanted our home to accommodate small children where they could be warm with room to play during the dark months of the year having enough space but having no idea how to make a floor plan. They flew up and spent two days laying out the square footage giving us a schematic so we could give the go-a-head.
All materials had to be put on a barge and have to say the whole experience of start to finish was a joy for our 4,000 sf home with a two car garage. The company was there for a week to train our crew to erect the timber frame and most of the walls were up when they left. It was a great experience and would use their company again.
